Το Μεγάλο Σάββατο του 1961 ο αδερφός μου τράκαρε στον εθνικό δρόμο Άργους-Τριπόλεως, στο συνοικισμό “Κολοκοτρώνη” και τραυμάτισε σοβαρά ένα παλικάρι, τον Ιωάννη Φ… που ζούσε εκεί. Τον μεταφέραμε αμέσως στο Γενικό Νοσοκομείο Τριπόλεως, με σπασμένα πόδια και κάταγμα της βάσεως του κρανίου. Η κατάστασή του ήταν δραματική.
Την άλλη μέρα που πήγα να τον δω, βρισκόταν σε κώμα. Έφυγα πολύ λυπημένος για το γεγονός, αλλά δεν ήξερα τί μπορώ να κάνω για να βοηθήσω τον νεαρό τραυματία.
Τότε θυμήθηκα ότι, πριν από ένα χρόνο είχαμε πάει γαμήλιο ταξίδι με την σύζυγό μου στην Ρόδο, παρατηρήσαμε στο λιμάνι πολύ κόσμο, που πήγαινε στον Πανορμίτη της Σύμης. Μέσα σε αυτούς, είδαμε και μια γριούλα, που βαστούσε μια γλάστρα με βασιλικό.
Από περιέργεια την ρώτησα που την πήγαινε και μου είπε “Την έχω τάξιμο στον Αρχάγγελο Μιχαήλ, ότι ζητήσεις ο Πανορμίτης θα στο δώσει”. ‘Ετσι λοιπόν, επικαλέστηκα την Χάρη Του και είπα “Σώσε τον Αρχάγγελε Μιχαήλ και εγώ θα σου φέρω μια λαμπάδα αγορασμένη από την Τρίπολη, όσο και το ύψος του”.
Ο Γιάννης ήταν σε κώμα εικοσιδύο μέρες, χωρίς να παρουσιάζει καμία βελτίωση. Οι γιατροί είπαν ότι τελειώνει και πήγε η μητέρα του να του κλείσει τα μάτια. Ειδοποιηθήκαμε και μεις από την οικογένειά του και επίσης ειδοποίησαν και το γραφείο τελετών.
Όλη νύχτα προσευχόμουν στον Αρχάγγελο για να τον σώσει. Το επόμενο πρωί, έκπληκτοι όλοι αντιλήφθηκαν ότι ο Γιάννης άρχισε να συνέρχεται. Κάλεσαν μάλιστα και τον αρχίατρο της στρατιωτικής πτέρυγας, για να δει το θαύμα. Εκείνος έστειλε το νοσοκόμο για να φέρει το ειδικό μηχάνημα που τραβά τα φλέμματα. Όταν ελευθέρωσαν την αναπνευστική οδό, ο Γιάννης άνοιξε τα μάτια. Την άλλη μέρα το πρωί, τον μετέφεραν με ασθενοφόρο στην Αθήνα στο νοσοκομείο “Άγιος Σάββας”, όπου χρειάστηκε έξι ολόκληρους μήνες νοσηλείας για να γίνει εντελώς καλά.
Πέρασε ένα διάστημα και θυμήθηκα ότι έπρεπε να εκπληρώσω το τάξιμό μου στον Πανορμίτη. Η ευκαιρία μου δόθηκε τον δεκαπενταύγουστο επιστρέφοντας από την Μονή της Παναγίας της Νεστάνης, λίγο έξω από την Τρίπολη. Φεύγοντας την επόμενη ημέρα για το Άργος, επισκέφθηκα την μητέρα μου στην Τρίπολη και της είπα: “Ας πάρουμε την λαμπάδα που έχω τάξει στον Πανορμίτη, μήπως και μας αξιώσει να πάμε φέτος στη Χάρη Του”.
Πήγαμε λοιπόν σε ένα κηροπλαστείο εκεί κοντά και ζήτησα μια λαμπάδα. Την παίρνω αμήχανα και προσπαθώ να υπολογίσω το ύψος που έπρεπε να ‘χει. Την ώρα ακριβώς εκείνη, με χτυπά κάποιος ελαφρά στην πλάτη. Γυρίζω και τί να δω; Βλέπω τον Γιάννη. Η δύναμις του Αρχαγγέλου, τον έστειλε εκεί για να μετρήσω την λαμπάδα στο δικό του ύψος!!!
Τελικά με αξίωσε και πήγα στην Μονή Του στη Σύμη εκείνη τη χρονιά, την ημέρα της Εορτής Του και εκπλήρωσα το τάμα μου. Ο Γιάννης στην συνέχεια παντρεύτηκε, απέκτησε δύο παιδιά και ζει μέχρι σήμερα στην Τρίπολη. Από τότε τον ονομάζουν Λάζαρο της Τρίπολης.
