Σε ένα χωριό κοντά στην πόλη Ζαλπαγκούρι στην δυτική Βεγγάζη της Ινδίας, ένα νέο κορίτσι 16 χρονών υπέστη ομαδικό βιασμό και δολοφονήθηκε, επειδή φέρεται να επέδειξε ασέβεια στην επιτροπή ηλικιωμένων του χωριού.

Ο τύπος της Ινδίας ανέφερε πως το νέο κορίτσι εναντιώθηκε στους ηγέτες του χωριού που ήθελαν να δείρουν τον πατέρα της επειδή δεν μπόρεσε να πληρώσει το χρέος για το τρακτέρ που είχε αγοράσει και για αυτό το λόγο το τιμώρησαν.Πρώτα του επέβαλαν την ποινή να φτύσει κάτω και μετά να τα γλείψει, αλλά όταν το κορίτσι αρνήθηκε να το κάνει, το σκότωσαν.
Ο εκπρόσωπος της αστυνομίας Τζείμς Κουζούρ στην ανακοίνωση που έκανε αναφέρει πως “Ο πατέρας του κοριτσιού ανέφερε πως το κορίτσι υπέστη βιασμό και το δολοφόνησαν. Μετά από την μήνυση συνελήφθησαν τρία άτομα” .
Αναφέρεται πως καθώς η οικογένεια του κοριτσιού ήταν φίλοι του κομμουνιστικού κόμματος και η επιτροπή των ηλικιωμένων του χωριού στηρίζει το κυβερνόν κόμμα, ενδεχομένως για αυτό να συνέβη και η δολοφονία.
Μετά από το 2012 όταν συνέβη ένας ομαδικός βιασμός και δολοφονία μιας 23χρονης κοπέλας μέσα σε λεωφορείο στο Νέο Δελχί, ήρθε στην επικαιρότητα το θέμα των βιασμών, αλλά παρά το ότι οι σχετικές ποινές έγιναν πιο βαριές, παρόμοια περιστατικά συνεχίζουν να συμβαίνουν συχνά στη χώρα.
